Came across this useful Microsoft document when looking for a resolution to INTERNET_38 error. It explains why the error occurs but I'm still trying to work out a workaround for my particular problem:

300!

Saw 300 on the world's largest movie screen - how cool was that?! Words cannot explain how immersive it really is - it is ALMOST too much.

I just have to quote what IMAX themselves say about it:

Screen and Sound System

The screens in IMAX Theatres are the biggest in the world and Sydney boasts the world's largest cinema screen. They just don't come any bigger!

Up to eight storeys high, they are ten times larger than a traditional cinema screen and fills the whole field of human vision.

Made of stretched vinyl, coated with a reflective silver paint they are stretched taut over a scaffold frame.

With thousands of small perforations they allow sound from speakers positioned behind the screen to play their key role in the total surround sound system.

Sound is critical to the IMAX experience. The film soundtracks are delivered through a mighty 15,000 watt digital surround sound system manufactured by Sonics Associates Inc, one of the world leaders in sound system design.

The IMAX six channel, high fidelity, motion picture sound system with sub bass plays off three separate CDs each carrying two tracks.

Amazing!

Ubuntu - Blog Entry Poster (gnome-blog) applet UserNotAuthorizedException...

Just got blog entry poster (gnome-blog) working..

What more fitting a way to test this applet out than to use it to blog about itself.

Anyway, had some trouble getting it working (due to the user migration to Blogger2 using Google authentication)

It's easy enough to fix once you know how - but I wasn't able to find any really helpful blogs on it (at least not directly relating to it - many blogger applications have had similar problems).

Instead of using the standard blogger URL, change it to be http://www2.blogger.com/api/RPC2 and that's it. You don't need the full email (GMail) address, just the bit before the @ symbol.

Ubuntu - Ripping from CD to MP3 using Sound Juicer

Learning little bits and pieces more about this Linux distro. Again, support for MP3 isn't OOTB (it's not considered completely free therefore excluded by Ubuntu).

Found a great blog to get MP3 extraction up and running super quick:
Jacob's Weblog.

All for the love of the music!

Oh my goodness - WOOHOO! Thanks to installing and mucking about with Linux, I have just stumbled across what is quite possibly one of the best websites ever!

RhythmBox had some integration with Last.fm, "Whatever that is?", I thought.

It is amazing; just check it out yourself:

I just typed in 4Hero as my favourite artist (with the release of Playing with the Changes, they really are - at the minute) and it brought back half the artists in my collection. Amazing... I think I may well end up living in this website.

It's rare I thank Linux (and I'm amore than competent techie!) but this site is just great - I don't know how it's taken me 5 years to come across this (though, it might've really sucked before).

Still trying to get their Linux version of the software working on Dapper Drake (Ubuntu) but I'll keep this post up-to-date when I do.

The 2007 Microsoft Office system does not support upgrading from a prerelease version

OK, so my Beta TR2 of Office 2007 timebombed on me on Sunday there (should've known really given the last timebomb - ah well, you can't beat procrastination!)

Tried to install the full version of Enterprise and came a cropper once more
with the error:
"Setup is unable to proceed due to the following error(s):
The 2007 Microsoft Office system does not support upgrading from a prerelease
version of the 2007 Microsoft Office system. You must first uninstall any
prerelease versions of the 2007 Microsoft Office system products and associates
technologies."
just as Scott Hanselman did. I found this a really useful post but what happened me was that the uninstaller failed about half-way through leaving Office thinking it was uninstalled but not really.

I ended up discovering what was going on in the %temp%\SetupExe(20070304).log file (first mention of "Catalyst beta product conflict check failed." indicating it was product {30120000-0011-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}-C (i.e. the main installer).

Anyway, I found the installer (via the registry - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Current Version\Uninstall) to be sitting in my C:\MSOCache directory so reinstalled the product, selecting that nothing was to be installed on the hard drive.

After that, uninstalling Beta TR2 completed successfully and the RTM was ready to install... Phew!
